Welcome to

Southport and District Beekeepers

Southport and District Beekeepers, a branch of the Lancashire and North West Beekeepers Association, is a friendly and supportive group whose main objective is to promote and further the craft of beekeeping. We welcome new members and offer support to new beekeepers as well as providing practical training.

We hold monthly meetings including talks from guest speakers, demonstrations and training sessions, and informal discussions about all things bees!

The club has its own apiary within Hesketh Park enabling experienced beekeepers to offer practical training sessions to members.

At the beginning of the year the branch runs a course as an introduction to beekeeping using the BBKA's (British Beekeepers Association) Introduction to Beekeeping teaching materials. We also run Beekeeping Taster sessions during the summer months.

The main event of the year for Southport Beekeepers is the Honey Show which is held in the Bees, Honey and Preserves Marquee at the famous Southport Flower Show in August.

In 2024 the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) is celebrating its 150th Anniversary. At the end of 2023 the Chair of the BBKA, Diane Drinkwater joined other Southport members to celebrate the start of the anniversary by planting a tree in Victoria Park, Southport.
