HIVE RAFFLE

We were the lucky ones whose names were pulled out of the feeder by our good friend Arthur Gillett at Ken Fleming’s apiary last Sunday!

Many thanks firstly to Gary and Lorna Bleasdale, new members of the branch, who donated the hive, and to our branch for organising the raffle. Of course thanks to Arthur as well for pulling out our names!

The hive is now painted and has a colony of bees in residence. A new queen reared in house this season is heading the colony and we have great hopes for the next season.

The hive is really well constructed. It includes a hive stand with a lighting board so you can watch all the activities of the hive entrance, it is just the right height for working the colony without straining ones back. There is a mesh floor with a varroa screen, a brood box, queen excluder, super with castellations, a crown board with 2 access holes and a roof with a good metal cover.

If you are interested contact Gary direct through the branch, by contacting the Secretary/Treasurer/Chair.
